Liberals need to put up or shut up on George Newhouse

The Liberal Party are continuing their claims that George Newhouse is ineligible to be elected in Wentworth. Newhouse has posted in brief the legal reasoning behind the conclusion his candidacy is valid regardless of any questions over the date of his resignation, and I agree with that reasoning.

The Liberals claim to have advice (supplied to the New South Wales division) of senior counsel to the contrary, and are saying the advice is clear and categorical. Despite this claim the site search facilities reveal that they have not posted any summary of the reasoning they have received to either their national or New South Wales divisional web sites, nor can I find it on Malcolm Turnbull's web sites. In fact despite the claims by the Liberals and one academic that the reasoning advanced by Newhouse does not put an end to the matter, as far as I can tell no contrary reasoning has been made available anywhere online, let alone in the three places you would expect to find it.

If the Liberals' case was so strong they would publish the reasoning so that people could see it and independent lawyers could form an opinion on it. Without such publication I can only stand by my view that the law is clear on the matter, and Newhouse's candidacy is valid without any doubt.
